Understand Your Words: Your Words Carry Power!

Updated: Nov 26, 2024

Our words hold incredible power-more than we often realize. One single word spoken into the atmosphere can set events into motion, creating outcomes far beyond what we might expect. If you don't believe me, let's explore how speaking your words can produce tangible, life-changing results.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."-John 1:1.

The word "word" itself signifies a command, a signal, or even a password. When we speak, our words act as commands that activate the atmosphere, producing results. It's like signaling the start of a process that brings something into being.

The story of creation is a perfect demonstration of this. In Genesis 1 verses, 3, 6, 9, 14, 20 and 24, we see the phrase: "And God said, 'Let there be..."". Each time, this command from God's mouth resulted in creation -light, sky, land, stars, creatures, and more. The words "Let there be" represent the command, while the words "And God said, 'Let the....'" signal the atmosphere to respond, bringing forth the end result.

This powerful example reminds us that words are not sounds; they are tools that shape reality. Our words have the ability to command, signal, and ultimately produce outcomes.

The Challenge for Women: Reclaiming our Voices

Far too often. as women, we silence ourselves. Whether due to fear, societal expectations, or simply the desire to avoid conflict, we allowed our voices to be muzzled. We may not all be naturally outspoken, but we all have something valuable to say.

instead of speaking up, we sometimes mask our words to appease those around us. Even when we recognize something is wrong. we hesitate, choosing silence over truth. However, we must remember that our words matter- and when we do speak, it's vital to do with love, wisdom, and truth, not in anger or argument.

It's easy to let the flesh take over when emotions run high, but maturity in our words means using them care, authority, and compassion. If more people understood the power of their words- the potential to heal or hurt, to build up or tear down- they might choose them more carefully. As women, we can model this by speaking with grace and intention.

Building a Culture of Uplifting Words

Even as we reclaim our voices, we must ensure that our words uplift rather than divide. Let's not turn our speaking up into a competition among women. Instead, let's express our thoughts with compassion, supporting and encouraging one another as we raise our voices.

Here are two keys principles to keep in mind when releasing words:

  1. Words are Commands and Signals:

Every word you speak is command that connects with other words, signaling the atmosphere to produce an outcome. Be intentional about the results you want your words to create.

  2. Words are Like Bullets:

Words have immense power- they can target and impact situations for good or bad. Use them wisely, aiming to build up rather than destroy.

"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen"-Ephesians 4:29

Your Words Shape Your World

The words we speak carry weigh-they shape our environments, influence those around us, and reflect who we are. Let's speak with intention, ensuring that our words bring life, healing and encouragement.

Reclaim your voice, and let your words carry the power to uplift, inspire, and create positive change. Speak up boldly, knowing that every word you release into the atmosphere has the potential to transform lives.

Meet LaWanda Carswell

unnamed_edited_edited_edited.jpg

Hello, I'm LaWanda Carswell, a native of Macon, Georgia, and devoted servant of God since December 30, 2012. My Journey with the Lord has been one of profound growth and transformation, shaping me into who I am today.

In 2014, I stepped into ministry as a Children's Bible Teacher, guiding young girls aged 5 to 10 in their spiritual walk. This journey expanded as I began teaching Adult Women's Sunday School, empowering women ages 18 and up through God's word. By 2016, I was invited to speak at women's conferences, opening new doors for ministry and outreach.

God has continued to bless and guide my path. I've served an intercessor on "The Light" radio with the late Pastor Bobby Clark and hosted a 30-minute devotional segment,"Manna with LaWanna," alongside Apostle Vertise Rozier. Through these opportunities, I discovered my passion for sharing God's truth with others.

I am also a writer, gifted by God to inspire and uplift the written word. I've authored tow books: "Healing Words for the Soul" and "Day Break Devotions: 40-Day Journey After the Storm. Vol. 1," both available on Amazon. Writing has been a ministry of its own, allowing me to touch hearts far and wide.

In 2020, I launched a Facebook ministry page, "The W. O. W. O. W (Well-Off Women of Wisdom) Experience, " to post daily devotions designed to encourage, uplift and present the Word of God to women navigating the trials of life.

I deeply understand the struggles many women face, particularly the challenge finding and using their voice. For years, I silenced myself, even when I knew God had placed something on my heart to say. My prayer is that my words now flow richly and Godly, guided by the Spirit rather than flesh. This process of submission to God has been a journey, but it's one that continues to strengthen my voice with wisdom.

I believe that wisdom unlocks understanding, understanding unlocks knowledge, and knowledge unlocks the words that shape atmospheres and transform lives. Our voices have power-power to shift environments, speak life, and reflect God's glory. My mission is to help women embrace their voices, speak with boldness, and unleash the lioness within.
